A Day Of Blowing The Trumpets

In the Jewish culture, there is an early and later harvest. In the early harvest, we have the Passover, unleavened bread, first fruits, and the Pentecost. Where in the later harvest we have the trumpets, atonement, and tabernacles. The Passover is when people remember when Israel was spared from the destroying angel when they put blood on their lamp posts, and the crossing of the red sea. This is in contrast to Christians who remember Jesus. That He died for our sins on the cross and rose from the grave. This is because Jesus died during the Passover season. In the old covenant, people were forgiven by the blood of the lamb, and in the new covenant, we are also forgiven by the blood of the Lamb of God. In the later harvest, people remember how Israel spent 40 years wandering the wilderness before arriving in the promised land. The feast of trumpets speaks of how the different holy days begin. The sound of a shofar is sounded. This is when the Jewish people remember the Lord. The time to enter the Lord’s presence was at hand. So people repented and prepared for the holiest day, the day of atonement. This is when the High Priest sprinkled the blood of the sacrifice seven times on the mercy seat. Jesus fulfilled this when He atoned for our sins through His own death on the cross.

Speaking of the day of blowing trumpets, Numbers, chapter 29, speaks about this. It reads, “and in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the Lord; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram.” (Numbers 29:1-3) Year after year the trumpets would blow and there were more sacrifices offered up unto God. Trumpets would blow until one day that Jesus came into the world to save us from our sins. In the end times, trumpets will also blow prior to the coming of Jesus in the clouds. “And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.” (Revelation 8:2,3) Make ready, for the Lamb of God, who is Jesus, is coming soon. Only He can wash away Your sins and make You fit for His Kingdom in heaven. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that one day the Jewish people at large will come to a realization that You did come in order to save us, Jesus. That You are the Messiah, who is Christ, the Lord, Jesus. I often wonder why the Gentiles are the ones who know that you came into this world, where Jews do not. Sure, there are Messianic Jews now, which I think is fantastic, but how come Your own people in Israel still deny that You came to save us? It seems that the sides have been flipped and people who know You now Jesus are Your lost sheep, which are the gentiles. Therefore, I pray that You will awaken the Jewish people at large from their slumber. Something has happened to cause their hearts to be hardened over these years. It is interesting to know how devout they are to the old covenant laws, even until today, but they are so missing out on what You called us into for the new covenant. Just like in old times they are looking forward to the temple being rebuilt in Jerusalem when if they read the New Testament, they would know that You no longer dwell in temples made with hands. How that we are Your temple now. No building can encompass Your presence anymore. Thank You for abiding in us now. I love Your presence and what You do for my life. I love You, Jesus. I give You praise. Amen.
