Jesus is the reason for the season. Celebrating Christmas is to give honor and praise to Jesus, our God, and His majestic birth.
Jesus is the perfect, spotless Passover lamb, who was able to pay the price for our sins once and for all.
The best part about Christmas is not about presents, but to think about Jesus and to give to others. Doing this brings the greatest joy of all.
It is because Jesus died for our sins on the cross that we are saved by grace. Which is a free gift from God to those that believe in Jesus Christ.
In Isaiah, chapter 7, we learned that a baby would be born of a virgin, of which His Name would be called Immanuel.
Matthew 1:21-23 (KJV) 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, […]
As we continue to read in Matthew, chapter 1, we learn why Joseph married Mary after what he found out about her from an angel.
While Jesus was on earth, he rode on an ass into Jerusalem, as it was prophesied of. All people will one day bow down to and worship the Lord God, if not in this life, but in judgement.
The light that shines upon us all is our Lord, Jesus. He is the chosen Messiah, who was born to save us all from our sins.
Matthew 1:1,2 (KJV) 1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. 2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;

We learn that Jesus was called Emmanuel, for He is God with us. And surely the Lord God was with them and will forever be with us.
Matthew 1:23-25 (KJV) 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took […]

700 years after Isaiah, the prophesy of Immanuel was fulfilled. Unto Mary, and her husband Joseph, did the Lord Jesus come into this world.
So to answer this question on who Immanuel was or meant to be, we will read from a portion of Isaiah, chapter 8.
And the only person we know that could be born of a virgin is God. Only He could make this miracle take place.
Our Lord God did come as the prophesy was made. Jesus was born of Mary and Joseph, whom was a descendent of David.
Oh how merciful is our Lord Jesus. I give thanks for the cross. Though it was so painful and hard to bare, Jesus suffered that we might be forgiven.
When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a colt, imagine people all around Him giving praise. It was like a parade and Jesus was the main event.
The Bible teaches that the blood of Jesus is vital to our salvation. Our sins can be covered, because of the cross.
When Jesus died on the cross, He was the last offering for sin. We can now be forgiven by the blood of Jesus. After sharing this, he agreed upon this.
Matthew 1:20,21 (KJV) 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. […]

Soon after this visitation, the angel also visited Joseph. He told him to not fear his wife’s pregnancy for what she is carrying “is of the Holy Ghost.”
Jesus is called wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the prince of peace. His peace has no end. He is our judge and judges us with justice.
The prophesy of the Lord’s birth, in Isaiah 7 and 8, was fulfilled in Matthew 1. The wait was finally over. The birth of the Messiah had finally come to pass.
Shortly after talking with these two gentlemen, my walk led me to another awesome discussion with a wonderful young man.
There is no one else that can do a work like Jesus can for our lives. He is our comforter when all seems lost. He overcomes the darkness and shines bright to guide us.
We have much to be grateful for, for though we are fallen He gives us new life. He takes us in because of His great love. Our evil tendencies are replaced by righteous habits.
