Baptized Into Christ Jesus

We may think that nothing can heal our hearts. Our addictions have us bound and leave us feeling distraught. It is like we are in chains and can’t escape. It brings us much pain and we are torn from within. We can’t find the power to resist and find ourselves coming back for more. We’ve searched for things in the world to sustain us but each time we are left wanting. Our hearts are broken for the many times we have fallen. To any of you that are feeling this way, there is hope. Jesus paid the price for our sins that we might live again. It doesn’t matter the life you’ve lived. He will loosen the bands that keep you captive. Though we may feel weak, He will give us strength to resist temptation. All it takes is faith in the Lord Jesus. Only through His love can we be freed from sin and walk in newness of life. For only Christ has power to save.

To give our lives to Jesus means to no longer walk in sin. We are willing to accept Jesus as Lord. This is what God desires and is essential to our salvation. When we follow Him through baptism, our lives are changed forever. As we go down into the water Christ is with us unto death. Our old life is passed away. We are crucified with the Lord “that the body of sin might be destroyed.” As we rise from the water it is “in the likeness of his resurrection”. We are made new. We are pulled out of the darkness and into His light. Our sins are washed away. We are no longer slaves to sin but a follower of our King. When trials come, we are comforted through prayer. His blessings become manifest in our lives. In Jesus everything comes alive. We are able to feel a love that never runs dry. Thank You Lord for this new life. I love You.

Romans 6:1-6 (KJV)
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
