I know that God is able to speak to us in our dreams and even give us visions while we are awake. Even as we sing out to Him does He bring chills down our spine, even to the raising our hairs on our arms. All this happens when we stay in tune with God throughout each day, and then God will speak to us in a big way. Speaking of electricity in our body, I feel this all the time when I am praising God in music, especially worship music. As I sing out in anthems of praise, my hairs on my arms shoot up and I can feel electricity going through my whole body. It is like nothing else I have ever experienced while in that moment. it is like God is with me and has His arms wrapped around me, filling me with His immaculate love. I love it when the presence of God is over me and this happens a lot when I am praying, praising God in music and when reading the Bible. Eliphaz also felt this way when he was moved by the spirit and said, “In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up.” (Job 4:13-15) Therefore, when we feel this electricity in our bones and our hair begins to stand up, it can very well be the Holy Spirit moving within us. This is true when we are doing God’s will.
What I just mentioned here about this electricity that goes through our bodies in worship, even to the point of our hairs standing up straight, this is of God. However, we must know that Satan can send the same signals throughout our body, even to the point of having our hair raised as well. Being cold can do this as well. Think of all the time that you were scared. This can be a real-life experience that brought chills to your bones because of what you witnessed. It could also be from watching a horror movie, or a portion of a movie that was very dramatic or scary. Even books can give us this same sensation, along with music and video games. So what we must realize is that Satan wants us to experience the joys that come with worldly living, even with the worldly things we consume with our eyes and ears. Therefore, we are to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.” (1 John 4:1,2) If things are not lifting up the name of Jesus, then these feelings are not of God. However, if they are, even to proclaim that Jesus is God, then it is good. So remember to seek God throughout each day. Then, will your faith will be lit up in Christ Jesus.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will stay in tune with You throughout each day of our lives. That we will not be a friend to this world but stay in Your perfect will. I love it when You are near, for the hair on my arms stands up and I get chills throughout my body. How awesome it is to be in worship and know that You are so near. I love it when I can know that You are ready to guide me by the hand. This is when the darkness is scattered and Your light enters in, even in a very big way. Thank You, Jesus. You are so good to me. I have so much to say and it is in praise to Your great Name. Holy are You, Jesus. Lord, keep me every close to Your presence. Don’t allow me to get sucked into the world, once again. All I know is that Satan can make things appear to be good on the outside while giving us the same chills when we indulge in them. So often does worldly music, movies, video games, receiving new things like phones, and things we do in the outdoors brings us the joy we are looking for in the moment. Even to the point of us experiencing a euphoria, which is only masqueraded as good. And instead of us seeing the filth that is therein, we get so sucked into these things and our minds get clouded. We can’t even see that these things are really tearing You down, which is very sad. What really breaks my heart, Lord, is that people who are into such filth are often unwilling to listen to us Christians. So convict them of their sins. We can do all we can to share the truth, but we need the Holy Spirit to do the rest. Lord, lead them out of a life of guilt and into Your light. Then, will they encounter the greatest joy of all, which comes from You, Jesus. I love You. Amen.
