The Announcement Of Jesus’s Birth

I rejoice at the birth of Jesus and the announcement of His coming into the world also. That our God would become flesh, in order to save us all from our sins. I testify to you all that the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto Mary, in order to bring her good tidings of great joy. It was the best news ever for her to know that she would bring forth the Son of God. That he would come in order to bear our sins on the cross, that we may be forgiven. No more animal sacrifices for He would become the lamb of God. It is an amazing story and true at that, which makes it all so remarkable. It begins with, “and in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:26-31) You can just imagine what Mary was feeling at this moment. She was a virgin, but still, she would bear a Son, of which only God could make this happen. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37) This is so true. And what He said next and her response to the angel Gabriel was so remarkable. We will go over just that in more details next.

These verses in Luke, chapter 1, continues with, “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” (Luke 1:32-38) Here we learn that Jesus would be called the Son of the Highest, which means the Son of God. He comes from the lineage of David and is the ruler thereof also. A part of His mission was to bring forth His kingdom into the world, that those who believe in Him could become a part of it. It is by way of the Holy Spirit and the Father that Jesus was formed in Mary’s womb, for they are part with Jesus in the holy trinity. And I love Mary’s response, which is “be it unto me according to thy word.” (Luke 1:38) She was humble and therefore called to bring forth the Son of God into the world. If more people could be like Mary, then many more people would also say to God, “have your way in me! May Your will be done in my life”, and be saved.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for more salvations from all around the globe. That people will begin to call upon Your Name and believe in You unto salvation. There is salvation only through one Name under heaven and that is through You, Jesus. May people begin to grasp that fact and take hold of You, God. We can do all things only if You are leading us in this life. Otherwise, things will become a strain, of which we cannot muster up enough strength on our own to bear it. There are way too many burdens that are on people’s shoulders right now, which is impossible for them to bear on their own. So I pray that they will become humble enough like Mary was, and say, “be it unto me according to thy word”. (Luke 1:38) Then, could You begin to use many more people in the service of Your kingdom. I am so grateful, God, that You did come into the world, in order to save us from our sins. You came from the lineage of David and are the ruler of Israel and all mankind. One day, every person will have to give an account to You, come judgment day, and I pray that more people will be ready. Surely, You came down in order to also show us the right way to live our lives. To not live for the world, but for the building up of Your kingdom instead. This might be a lot to ask of from many people, for they are oh so enamored with their own lives. People get so busy that the time they spend with You is minimal. And even their lifestyle more resembles the world, then as a born again Christian. So I pray that You will awaken people up to righteousness and holiness. That people will begin to see Your light and walk in it also. To confess their sins, that You may change them from the inside out. I love You, God. I believe in You. Amen.
