David got a glimpse of Jesus’s kingdom. Speaking of His seed, it shall endure forever under Jesus, our Messiah, and King. Looking at the lineage of our Lord Jesus, He comes from the house of David. His kingdom shall endure forever. This is speaking of the Lord God, of whom His throne is like unto the sun. It is firmly established like the moon in the firmament above the earth with God’s creation. The Lord Jesus is our faithful witness, of whom is God and is the only way to heaven. In Psalms it is written, “once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.” (Psalm 89:35-37) God’s kingdom has continued through David with Jesus.
The author of Hebrews reemphasized the importance of Jesus and His kingdom. Unto the Son of God, His throne reigns forever. He holds a sceptre of righteousness, where He reigns supreme over His kingdom on earth and in heaven. Jesus is thrilled when His people live for Him and not the world. This is when righteousness reigns in us. The Lord has established His kingdom in us, of whom we have been anointed to walk uprightly among the wicked. In Hebrews, we continue to learn, “but unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” (Hebrews 1:8,9) Jesus is our King. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will be drawn to know You. This way the Holy Spirit will penetrate their lives and revere You as their King, Lord Jesus. Truly, Your kingdom is upon the earth and in heaven. Thank You for trusting in Your people, in order to allow Your kingdom to reign within us. I know that we could all be doing better, but I am grateful for those who are stepping out in faith no matter the circumstances. This is when true devotion to You is on display. Lord, remove all aspects of religion in people’s lives, while encapsulating them with Your gospel message. Many people in the world have not heard the gospel yet, so set a fire in all Your people, that this may happen sooner than later. I pray that more people are saved and go to heaven. I love You, Jesus. I give You praise and all the glory. Amen.
